No plans equals a great day!

Today was a day to simply wake up with the sun, have an oatmeal and banana breakfast and see what the day brings. We decided to walk down to the beach today with no other agenda but to explore.  We took a short cut into an area of muddy paths inhabited by the local fisherman who basically live right in the jungle.  Actually, everything is in the jungle here.  This was a much quicker way to the beach.   From there, we walked along the beach for a mile or so until we came to the main street area of the village of Samara.

We checked our a few surf schools and shops and eventually had lunch at a local Soda.  A soda is an open air, casual diner (side street type of things) with great food which are a lot less expensive than regular restaurants.  They are everywhere.

I forgot to mention that last night as we were heading out to supper and Craig was locking the gate at the end of the driveway, I saw a huge tarantula spider on the gate post.  Also, Craig fished a scorpion out of the pool with  the pool net cleaner while Ann and I were grocery shopping.  These are just interesting things you will see in the jungle.

Tonight we BBQ-ed  some chicken and had rice and green beans for a wonderful supper at home. We look forward to another interesting day tomorrow.
Two chickens seem to visit every morning

Sexy and we know it!

We are planning to kayak to that island tomorrow

Craig and I bought some fresh tamales from a guy selling them out of a cooler.  So good!

I withdrew some Colones from that bank today

They sure love their FUTBOL!  Can you see the ball?

This shot is taken from our yard.  This flat expanse of jungle leading up to the fishing boats is actually a local residential area where people live.  You can't see the streets for the trees but people do live down there in the jungle.
